However, the 28-year-old singer revealed that fans won’t have to wait as long for her next project. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone at Spotify’s Wrapped party, Normani shared her plans to release her highly anticipated sophomore album in 2025.
Plans for a New Album and Tour in 2025
"I’m putting out lots more music, hitting festivals, and going on tour," Normani said, outlining her busy schedule for the upcoming year. "Leave it to me to release a whole new album too. I promised I wouldn’t make you wait that long anymore! This year, I’m focused on putting out music and moving more, instead of just preparing."
Normani's upcoming album is deeply personal, as the artist is feeling inspired by the experiences she’s been living through. “I’m going through so much in such a short period, and I feel like I have a lot to talk about," she explained. “Dopamine was curated over four to five years, so it reflects a lot of what I’ve gone through. But right now, I have so much going on that I want to share and get off my chest, not just for myself, but for my fans.”
Hollywood Role and Music Creativity
In addition to working on her album and gearing up for a tour, Normani is branching out into Hollywood. She stars in the upcoming movie Freaky Tales, which could see a wide release in 2025. "It was really cool to tap into a new creative space," Normani shared. "It was refreshing and felt like a breath of fresh air. Working on the film allowed me to explore my creativity beyond just music, which was a palette cleanser."
Dopamine’s Impact and Success
Normani’s Dopamine, which was released in June after an initial announcement in 2018, debuted at No. 91 on the Billboard 200 and sold 12,000 units in its first week. While the album marked a long-awaited milestone in her career, it’s clear that Normani is only just getting started.
With her sophomore album and a major Hollywood debut in the works, Normani is preparing to continue her ascent in both music and entertainment.
